INFORMATION FOR PATIENTS ON DATA PROTECTION

Dear Patient,

The protection of your personal data is a matter that is important for us. Based on the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we have the obligation to inform you of the purpose of collection, storage or transmission of data by our medical practice. You will also be able to see from this information what your rights are in terms of data protection.

PURPOSE OF DATA PROCESSING

Your data will be processed based on legal requirements in order to perform the treatment contract existing between you and your physician as well as the obligations associated therewith.

It is for this purpose that we process your personal data including but not limited to data concerning health. This includes us or other physicians taking your history (anamnesis), making a diagnosis and therapy proposals as well as identifying findings. It is for this purpose that other physicians or psychotherapists treating you may provide us with data (e.g. by way of a medical report).

Collection of data concerning health is a pre-condition for your treatment. Where necessary information is not provided, it is not possible for us to give you medical attention with care.

RECIPIENT OF DATA

We only transmit your personal data to third parties to the extent this is allowed by law or subject to your consent.

Primarily other doctors / physiotherapists, associations of statutory health insurance physicians (Kassen­
ärztliche Vereinigungen), health insurance companies, the medical service of health insurance companies, medical associations and payment systems for private medical treatment may be the recipients of your personal data.

Such data is mainly transmitted for the purpose of accounting for the services rendered to you, for clarifying medical issues as well as questions resulting from your insurance contract. In isolated cases, data will also be transmitted to other authorised recipients.

DATA STORAGE

We will only retain your personal data for as long as this is required for the purpose of giving you medical attention and taking care of you as a doctor.

Based on legal requirements, it is our duty to store this data for a minimum period of ten (10) years following completion of therapy. Based on other regulations it may be necessary for us to retain information for longer; X-ray images and records, for instance, based on section 28 paragraph 3 of the X-Ray Regulation (Röntgenverordnung) must be retained by us for 30 years.

YOUR RIGHTS

You have the right to be given access to personal data relating to you. You also have the right to request that inaccurate data be corrected.

Subject to certain conditions you also have the right to have data deleted, the right to request a restriction of processing of data as well as the right to data portability.

Your data will be processed on the basis of statutory requirements. We will only have to obtain your consent in exceptional cases. In these cases you will have the right to revoke any consent given and the revocation will take effect with respect to any processing of data in the future.

You also have the right to complain to the competent supervisory authority for data protection whenever you believe that your personal data has not been processed lawfully.
